There are many teaching methods, starting from the most basic, the Grammar-translation to the more rare, like the Silent Way. The most popular is the ESA method (Engage, Study, Activate), as it allows the teacher to be more flexible. Parts of other methods may be implemented in the ESA lesson plans. The Engage stage of the lesson allows the students to warm up, practice some of the work previously learned, and prepare of the lesson's topic. The Study stage focuses on the main theme. In the Study stage the students learn the material using worksheets, learning new vocabulary, and complete various activities that focus on information retention. The Activate stage allows for students to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of the materials through interactive activities. Corrections can be made at all stages of the class, but are more imperative in the Study stage.
