Thi unit focused on the teach of productive skills - speaking and writing. In this unit, a large part of the focus was determining when to focus on accuracy and when to focus on fluency. Accuracy is most important in the study stage of lesson, to ensure the students are leaning the concept correctly. Fluency is most important in the activate stage, to allow the students to use language more freely and discover language for themselves. The distinction of speaking activities (controlled, guided, and creative) was particularly helpful in thinking about how best to balance activities and give students the opportunity to work on both accuracy and fluency. Additionally, the ideas on writing skills were helpful, as it was pointed out in the unit that writing is often neglected but is a critical part of learning a language.
