This unit taught some of the different components of language usage and understanding. I have some experience teaching and learning other foreign languages and most of what was taught in this unit applies to all foreign language learning, not just English. I do think, however, that sometimes it can be appropriate to give a more advanced reading or listening piece to lower level students, so long as they are forewarned about this and assured they are not supposed to understand much of it, simply to see how much they can understand and to teach some new phrases and vocabulary. This can be a useful exercise, so long as it is not too heavily relied on.
