This unit covered a lot of concepts and I feel it could have been better organized. First, I felt it places too much emphasis on intonation, which I consider to be a very advanced concept in English and one that should only be taught when all other important concepts have already been covered. Intonation is not unique to English and is used in many other western languages, including ones I have learned, but I have never been taught this concept and picked it up on my own. Since mastering intonation would make a learner sound indistinguishable from a native speaker, there is a limit as to how much emphasis should be placed when teaching this concept. In general, this unit covers a lot and gets very technical at times, and I do not think it is necessary to know all this material in order to effectively teach English as a second language, particularly technical terms regarding speech organs. I understand why it may be useful to mention such things, but I think it would have been helpful if it was emphasized during the unit which concepts were the most important to understand and retain.
