Dodge City, Alabama TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
This unit focused on the specialized types of classes that EFL teachers could run into. Each specialized class is taught differently depending on what the students want out of it and what their motivations are. I learned that there are beginner classes of which are broken down into further categories of absolute beginner, false beginner, adult beginner, young beginner, and beginner without the Roman alphabet. Another type of lesson that teachers could come across is teaching individuals. One on one teaching has increased especially in the business world. Teaching children is another specialized class that will alter the way a teacher will teach. Because they are so young, teachers must often repeat themselves and be patient. Business English/English for a specific purpose classes are sought by people who need to learn English for work. It is possible to teach these kinds of lessons either one on one, in a group setting, or a school setting. The last two groups discussed in this unit are monolingual and multilingual classes. For monolingual classes, it is usually taught in the students home country and the teacher must remember to not use the mother language of the students even if the teacher knows it. For multilingual classes, the students backgrounds are all different so the only common language they would have in common is English. This can certainly be used as an advantage because it forces the students to actively use English in the classroom.
