I enjoyed this unit's content. Most of the information was not new for me, in particular the section on methodology. The ideas on having one-to-one and group teaching presented in this unit are interesting. Most of them I experienced during my part job at the state enterprise. The situation was when the employer paid to me directly for the group of his specialists. Problem which I faced was weak or no preparation for the home task, the reason they reffered was overloading with work, meetings. But they enjoyed role-playing so much.
For more than 2 months I had to teach the multilevel groups (as it was recommended by superiors) and got no results: advanced level students got bored and lower students were afraid of speaking in order not to be laughed at by their groupmates. After several complaints of students it was decided to group them in roughly the same level of knowledge. The result was obvious: in both groups students now actively participate in all class activities and do their hometasks. May be those who support the idea of not separating lower level knowledge students from the others and let them take an advantage and improve their knowledge are right, but not all students have charizma to show their best and enough learning environment for acquiring the language input and being able to communicate in L2.
In conclusion I would like to say that this unit was a kind of revision and consolidation for me.
