Unit nine provided a great lesson on the roles of lesson planning. Before reading the lesson, I had a certain thought about what lesson planning is. Upon completing the lesson, my mind has changed a good amount about lesson planning and I have learned a lot of useful knowledge. For example, I was under the impression that a strict lesson plan was a necessity, but I know now that you can have a very successful lesson without a strict lesson plan. This comes with experience of course. This lesson discussed how to write a lesson plan, what should be included, and how to be organized. I was pleased that it gave an idea of what a lesson plan might look like with descriptions of each part. The lesson plan also includes what the teacher would like to accomplish to improve their teaching. In my opinion, if you stick too closely to the lesson plan, you might not be in touch with the needs of the class. After reading the lesson, I think being in touch with the needs of the class and the flow is much more important than sticking directly to the lesson plan.
