This unit mainly explains how to teach the special groups which include the beginners , individual students,children ,business people and the monolingual class. Each group of students have its own feature and requires different teaching skills . The methods which adopt to the children are sometimes totally inappropriate for an adult. For teaching the beginners, we should be aware of the students needs, encourage them to speak English in class as much as possible, never use the students mother tongue even if we know it, in addition, the homework is important. For the individual students which I mostly teach, finding out the students specific language problem ,using variety of activities and techniques is critical, and as well as that, taking care of their face is also important. No adult wants to lose face . For the children, creative class and fun activities are really important to them for they have very short attention span, it may cause problem if just give the duck feed class. For the business people class, it helps if we do some study of their needs and industry. We ought to know what do they expect from the class and which parts of English do they really need for their work. The material we prepared for them also need to be well selected in order to catch their interest!
