Some English learners are unlucky especially when they learn English in a non-native country where they can’t be exposed to get the benefits in using the language and put it into practice.
Methods of teaching are the primary topic that the teacher faces while teaching a lesson and there are a lot of methods that can be used during a lesson such as:
• Grammar-translation
• Audio-lingualism
• Presentation,practice and production
• Task-based learning
• Communicative language teaching
• Community language learning
• The silent way
• Suggestopaedia
• The lexical approach
The one method that I personally prefer is communicative language teaching as it focuses on the importance of language functions more than the grammar which gives the students a better exposure to the language and engages them effectively in real life situations even though, they will still not have the accuracy of the language but at least they will be encouraged to speak more and feel that they are achieving and progressing for instance, asking students to explain about what they like about s certain country and listen to their answers without any interruption from the teacher to correct the grammar mistakes that might occur.
Finally, we can’t really depend on one method all the time and consider it the best to follow in all lessons as it all depends on the students’ needs and backgrounds therefore, the teacher needs to enhance her experience in teaching to know which method suits every particular lesson and student.
