Unit 5 is all about a range of very different teaching strategies or themes namely, singing songs, chanting, listening to music, playing games, using stories, making arts and crafts and drama. All of these are all considered as teaching strategies or themes. Singing, chanting and listening to music are all effective methods for memorisation. It is also fun and suits both young and old learners. Using games is also another way of learning and having fun at the same time. All you need to do is to make sure the game is appropriate for a certain age level. A lot of games played outside the classroom can be adapted for teaching. Stories come in handy and has a lot of benefits as well. They are excellent for vocabulary building, can be used with any level and age group, the right stories can also be motivational and can be good for modelling and writing styles. Stories can also develop all four skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening). Even the use of arts and crafts also develop all four skills. The use of drama and movement, on the other hand, can help the student's learning process by making the contexts of language more realistic.
