At the start of the unit, there are details about using music and chanting in the classroom, and how they can be a fun and helpful memorisation technique for young learners. Next, I learned about using games in the classroom. These can be created by the teacher based on popular games, and should be catered toward the language point and learner objectives.Another technique covered in the unit is the use of stories. They can be motivating learning resources and are good for building vocabulary. Certain websites will generate comprehension questions based on the story. The next technique is arts and crafts. This stimulates both sides of the brain, and the product of the learner's imagination can be analysed using all four English skills. We can also use the seasons of the year as a stimulus for learning, through creative writing about the seasons, creating seasonal artwork, and more. Finally, there is drama and movement. This will involve different content based on the age group. For example, older age groups would learn better in a more challenging role-playing activity, whereas younger age groups would appreciate simpler roles, or activities such as "Simon Says."
