Similar to Unit 4, Unit 6 also talked about the formation and usage of verbs in four different cases, but in relation to past tense. The general usage of each is as follows.
Simple past - completed past action
Past continuous - completed action that happened over a period of time in the past.
Past perfect - A past action is completed before another past action. Similar to the present perfect that relates a past event to the present, the past perfect relates a past even to another past event.
Past perfect continuous - A past action or situation continued up until a certain past point in time.
The unit also gave a few activity ideas for students to implement and practice these verb usages.
