In this unit I learnt all about managing a class as a teacher.This is the ability to organize and control the class ensuring a a friendly,relaxed manner and also maintaining discipline.
The are various methods that a teacher can use in order to maintain the aforementioned factors,that is good eye contact will help to establish good rapport with students but it should be avoided during activities that are not teacher centered.Moreover gesture is also another way and it helps to convey the meaning of the language in a more simplified and faster manner, reduces the teacher talking and also enables student to understand instructions easier.The tone of the teachers voice will also determine the atmosphere of the classroom.
When deciding on how to do activities the teacher should be able to change how the activities will be done either group work ,individual or in pairs.This will depend on the type of activity ,size of class,furniture in the class etc.
Regarding seating arrangement this will also highly depend of the space ,type of furniture,age of students ,nationality and personalty.One has the options of arranging the students in orderly rows which is suitable for a class of 25 students and more,separate tables or in a circle which is suitable for smaller class and encourages students to stay focused.
