This unit covered the 4 past tenses: past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous. Each section, once again, discussed the formation of each tense, the usages and the various teaching ideas for each tense. The formation of past tense sentences is very similar to the present (although obviously using the past form of the verb, aux. verbs, etc.). There was also a section that reviewed some irregular verbs as not all verbs can be formed by adding -d or -ed to the end of the base form (see - saw, eat - ate, catch - caught, let - let, etc.). The trouble I had with this section was distinguishing the usages. It was also apparent that my students may run into trouble when differentiating specifically the Present Perfect and Past Perfect as even the Pres. Perf. has a "past" element to it.
