Although it may seem like the first lesson was not that bad, subtle differences in teaching technique can improve the overall understanding to the student. The problems in the first lesson included starting off with no engage phase, and trying to explain by using more advance language. There isn't really a problem on the student's side since they all seemed very content to participate; the teacher did not allow the students enough opportunities for the students to participate. There wasn't a clear explanation of the lesson, and there wasn't not enough elicitation of answers for the students. The activate phase was also very poorly executed, and the teacher had an attitude that it didn't really matter, even at one moment, granting more points to the left team simply because he "likes them better" lastly, the lesson abruptly ends. In the second lesson, most of these are corrected, and the only minute error he made was calling on students names before asking a question as oppose to call their names after. He doesn't make this mistake throughout the whole lesson though.
