A lesson plan is a teacher’s guide or map. I’d like to think of it as the “recipe” for a day full of exciting learning. It is therefore very essential in the process of both teaching and learning. There is no specific rule on how to go about making a lesson plan. IT all depends on the teacher. The teacher has to find their own way but must also make sure to be flexible. Before you get on with lesson-planning, I think that it is important to set the objectives first. What do you want the students to learn or achieve? What do you want as the teacher to improve? IT is also important to be well-prepared and organized for a smooth flow of the class. This does not only make it easier for the teacher but also sets an example to the students. A mediocre teacher produces mediocre students.
I personally like to jot down ideas or planned activities and try to make it simple for easy reference. I also keep everything ready (materials like picture cards, visual aids, games) for easy reach. What I think is really really important though is flexibility. Everything you planned before your lesson doesn’t always fall into place every single time. Stuff happens sometimes so the teacher will have to adapt and make changes even when it isn’t in the lesson plan.
