This unit served as a refresher for me. I was able to review the different parts of speech. They’re the building blocks of forming sentences. Identifying the usage of every word in a sentence still requires a lot of concentration and analyzation for me, to be honest.
Nouns are names of places, things, animals, events. They can either be countable, uncountable, common or proper.
Adjectives describe, identify and further define nouns.
Pronouns replace or substitute nouns or noun phrases.
Articles can either be indefinite or definite. They refer to any or specific member of a group. Sometimes it is possible to have a noun or noun phrase without an article. This occasion is called the Zero Article.
Verbs describe actions or states. Infinitive form of a verb is the verb in its base form and usually preceded by to.
Adverbs describes the quality, manner, place, time, degree and frequency of a verb or adjective. Most of them end in “-ly”
Gerunds are verbs that act as a noun and end in “-ing”
Prepositions indicate the location or some other relationship between a noun and the other parts of the sentence.
Conjunctions connect words or group of words or coordinate words in the same clause.
I try to keep everything clear and simple.
