This unit is about the differences between speaking and writing. When speaking a new language is may be easier for a student to learn how to pronounce words that are similar to their own language or other similar english words. Accuracy is just as important as fluency, when speaking, but it is the most important goal during the study phase. Fluency, is the main goal in lessons where the students need to speak in group activities. But, accuracy is more important for written words, because it could be misunderstood if it is misspelled, or if they use the wrong grammar. The easiest way to help students learn writing skills is by extensive reading, to see how words are used and spelled properly.
