In this unit I learned about how to teach vocabulary, grammatical structures and language functions. I'ts important to understand how to teach new vocabulary to the students. First of all, you need to know the level of their English. Second, you have to teach them words that they will be using often. What the students need to know is the meaning of the word, its usage, spelling, interaction and pronunciation. Using a straight arrow ESA could be used to teach new vocabulary. The same can be said when teaching new grammar structures and some of the methods that could be used to engage the students are discussion, scenario building and using pictures, among others. You can use gap-fills in the Study stage and role-play in the Activate stage. Lastly, the language functions its important for the students to differentiate the kind of language, formal, informal, technical, etc.
