In this unit, I learned about the future tenses: future simple, future continuous, future perfect, future perfect continuous, and the 'going to' future tense. It also covered more on the present simple and present continuous forms learned in unit four. The future simple tense is used when something will or might happen in the future. It uses the word 'will' in front of a verb. The future continuous tense uses the words (in this order) 'will' and 'be' to show that something will be happening at a particular moment in the future, predicting what might be happening at the moment of speaking, asking about other people's plans, but not influencing them, and to refer to future events that will happen. The perfect tense uses the words 'will' and 'have' to state that something will have been completed by a certain point in the future. The future perfect continuous tense uses the words (in this order) 'will', 'have', 'been' to state an action that will have continued up until a point in the future. The 'going to' future tense is similar to the present continuous tense. However, the 'be going to' structure is followed by a verb and can also put an extra emphasis on the idea of intention. The speaker uses this tense to make plans, predictions (with present evidence), and to show intentions.
