The point of this section discussed the purpose of receptive and productive skills. Receptive skills involve taking in information such as listening or reading a source. This can be for different purposes such as for entertainment, specific information (scanning/skimming), or for mere pleasure. Productive skills involve producing information such as writing or communicating verbally. When performing lessons that involve these tasks it is important to make sure we pre-teach vocabulary to make sure students can follow along and respond.
