There was so much to absorb in this unit .I have never seen a phonemic chart before so this was very useful for teaching pronunciation to students as some English words sound the same and the chart helps decipher the spelling .The symbols made sense but learning them was quite difficult for me . The phonemes in each word is a good way of seeing how many sounds are in a word. The manner of articulation section was interesting to know how and where the sounds of words come from in the mouth .The intonation, with the rise and fall patterns ;the fall and rise and the flat was useful to knoW. Also the connected speech ,which we all do, is useful to teach .The teaching techniques and when to teach them is very useful to know .
