This unit we learned how to structure a classroom, how to balance TTT with STT, and how to manage problem situations. Different ways of placing the desks can have an effect on how intimate and formal the classroom feels. For example, a circle may make the classroom more intimate while orderly rows gives the teacher the ability to make eye contact with all students at once. Even with these different structures, there are different groupings that the teacher can ask for that have different results. A whole class grouping lets everyone feel included, but smaller groups and pairs may give less vocal students a greater chance to express their ideas.
