This unit covered three different topics. The first are modal verbs, which are used before other verbs in order to add another layer to the meaning of the verb. These include obligation, possibility, permission, ability, or advice. The second topic are passive verbs, which are used when one does not want to emphasize the performer of the action, the performer is not important, or one does not know who the performer is. Lastly the unit covered phrasal verbs, of which there are three types: intransitive, transitive separable, and transitive inseparable.
