The roles of student and teacher is a multifaceted one. There needs to be an understanding of the students' perspective and learning capabilities. If the teacher does not care to learn about their students and tailor the classes to their needs it will be very difficult to help those students actually learn. Active learning is more important and effective than passive learning. Active learning requires the teacher to encourage and support their students in the education process. This is impossible when the teacher does not do their best to engage with the material and students. Being a good teacher is important for producing a positive learning environment and motivating students to be good learners.
