I have learned that a good teacher is kind, patient, knows their material well, is lively and entertaining, can create good teacher-student relationships, and will be able to correct and encourage their students along. I have learned that a good learner has the willingness to listen to the language, experiment with the language, ask questions, and be able to receive error correction. I have also learned that there are many different motivations for a student to be learning English. Some do so for work, some for the reason of their intent to live in an English-speaking country. I have learned that it is important to be able to recognize what kind of teacher you are, and it is important to implement good teacher qualities if you do not already possess those traits. It is also important for a student to recognize that you care about them and allow them to feel empowered by you as an educator so they can thrive in your classroom, and appreciate the learning they will do. I would like to be a good teacher and have good learners in my classroom. I believe that this would really do well for the health of the class and create a learning environment that is productive and interesting for all.
