The Teacher and Learner Overview:
The teacher has to care about the learning of the student and have a desire to teach.

Understanding the role of the 'Teacher'
-----
The roles the teacher plays are triggered by the activities in the classroom.
These include: Manager, organiser, assessor, prompter, participator, tutor, facilitator, model and observer.
-----
Understanding the role of the 'Learner'
-----
4 criterias to consider are: age, culture, level of the English language, and motivation of the student.
1. Age: 18+ adult students, secondary, primary and pre-schoolers
2. Culture: A teacher needs to take into account learners from various cultures, have different approach to the teacher/learner/classroom atmosphere.
3. Level of the English language: Starter, elementary, low intermediate, intermediate, upper intermediate and advanced.
4. Motivation: A teacher needs to be focussed on making the lessons enjoyable, interesting, varied and useful. Much of it depends on incorporating all the above (points 1 - 3).
The perfect student would have a desire to learn the English language, ask questions, participate, be willing to listen, take the initiative and accept corrections whenever applicable.
-----
There is a difference between young learners and adult students too.
It's wise for the teacher to use more visual activities with pre-schoolers, or build a rapport with the adult learners due to life's history experiences.
Both have a common ground - attending class to learn the English language.
Finally, practice makes perfect. A good teacher needs to subtly switch into each role enthusiastically while taking care of each student fairly.
