In this unit on teachers and learners it allowed me to reflect on the aspects of an exceptional teacher. First of all the role of the teacher and how depending on the level of the students and the activity the role of the teacher can change. For example, you may have to start with a teacher centered role at the beginning such as controlled practice and through the progression of the lesson, shift to a more student centered activity with Freer practice.
Additionally, the consideration regarding learners is their age, motivation, past learning experiences and their current language level plays an important role with consideration to class development and the learning experience.
In conclusion, most certainly the relationship between each learner is complex. Besides the traits mentioned in the Unit, I would add that trust is important to consider to help build self confidence in the students to practice and have the "safe" environment to make mistakes in language learning.
