Among the various tense lessons, this unit, dealing with future tenses was the most difficult for me. Like the other units on tenses, definitions, usages, and examples were given for the seven most common patterns. I find myself having difficulty instantly identifying which tense is being used in a sentence, but as I look for tenses more intentionally, this is becoming more and more natural. I am glad that this unit clarified the way that present simple and continuous can be used as future tenses depending on the context. Along with this, I also learned that the “going to” pattern is its own tense category. When it comes time to teach future tenses to my students, I will be sure to implement the activities provided in this lesson in order to help them solidify their understanding of the various tense forms.
