In this Unit I have learned modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice. Modal verbs are: can, could, may, might, shall, should, will would, must, have to. Modal verbs can be used such as: obligation, possibility, probability, permission, prohibition, ability, advice.
Passive voice. There are two voices used in English. Active and passive. The active: I chose the wallpaper. The passive: The wallpaper was chosen by me. In the passive voice, the argent (or that one who does action) is much less important, or doesn't appear, as in the following example: active she painted the picture. passive the picture was painted (no agent)
Only transitive verbs (verbs followed by an object, such as sell, take, buy, write etc) are used in the passive. It is not possible to use verbs such as happen, sleep, come and seem (intransitive verbs) in the passive.
