In this unit we learned about teaching and learning the receptive skills of reading and listening. We learned what they are and how they are taught. We learned some potential problems that both teachers and learners can come across during a receptive skills lesson. We also learned about different methods of teaching it. Topic selection, tasks, and creating interest are all important in teaching a lesson about receptive skills. The unit also provided a sample lesson that will be helpful for the future when we must create our own. This lesson is extremely important because receptive skills are vital when learning a new language because they are a basic pillar to any language. Being able to teach reading and listening skills to someone learning English is very important and that makes this lesson essential.
