In this unit, we discussed the different formats of lesson plans and teaching styles. Although I am currently an ALT (assistant language teacher), I found myself only applying an engage, study, activate cycle with my kids. Now that I know more, I want to try different approaches to my lessons. For example, the boomerang method with more activities and engagement. As I often work with elementary students, I will provide an example of the boomerang method with 1st. year students.
Engage: Greet the class, sing the ABCs
Activate: Have the students get into groups. I will say a letter and they must try to make the letter using their bodies.
Study: We will sing the ABCs and I will show a video showing a visual of each letter.
Activate: Play a memory game using ABC cards
