This chapter was about phonology and pronunciation. Non-native English speakers have great difficulty in this area; so it is essential for our students to understand the fundamentals of intonation and stress as they convey quite a bit of meaning in an English conversation. English speakers also sound join in various ways, and speak their sentences fluidly so it sounds more like one long word (linking speech); which is an unfamiliar concept to our students, and fundamental to have them understand for conversational English. This chapter also covered the pneumatic alphabet and articulation, which can even be confusing for native English speakers. Fortunately, each of these segments of content was followed by a plethora of great ways to teach them.
