Phonetics can be hard to learn by foreign speakers due to the pronunciation of the words being sompeltely different but I found the visual and speaking (pronunication) techniques to be the best way to teach. In terms of visuals; I always find that most people learn better with diagrams and such, and that is the best way also to go with when it comes to phometics. as far as the pronunciation, I think that speaking in class and making students read it out loud like you said in the unit makes the best learners because as with everything else, practice makes perfect.
