Unit 4 is titled The Present Tense and I have learnt four present tenses from it. Each of the present tenses covers the form, usages, typical student errors and Activate stage teaching ideas. It is extremely important that I as an EFL teacher is familiar, comfortable and know the content of this unit really well. Knowing the principles will allow me to check the students' work correctly and efficiently.
The four present tenses are the present simple, present continuous (also known as the present progressive), present perfect and present perfect continuous. Each of them have their respective forms and usages. The differences between the four present tenses are clear and not the same. An understanding of them will allow us to teach the present tenses accurately to students. The examples given has also aided in understanding the principles behind the different present tenses.
