This unit presented an overview of the parts of speech of the English language. Several of these parts, such as pronouns and the different forms of verbs, can be difficult for students as well as teachers. The outcome I received from this unit was that the teacher should take care to study these concepts thoroughly so that the student never feels a lack of confidence in how the teacher presents the information. Further research will also allow the teacher to be confident themselves that they can answer difficult questions that naturally arise when non-native speakers are learning English. These concepts are often taken for granted by native English speakers because many learn them more from observation and less from actual explanation delivered in a classroom setting.
