Conditionals are very common language structures referring to past, present or future possibilities. There are mainly two parts forming conditional sentences, the 'if' clause, indicating the condition that has to be met before the action actually takes place, and the main clause, indicating the consequence, in the form of an action or state.
Another frequently used language construct is the reported speech as opposed to the direct speech. While in the latter the speaker literally repeats what has been said, in the former the choice is to report it in an indirect fashion, implying some important grammatical variations.
