This unit covers the skills a teacher needs in order to manage his class effectively as well as to become an effective teacher. It covers personal skills such as the behavioural and character, organisational skills of the students and classroom seating, and the interactions and response we have with students.
How we act, gesture, speak and respond to the students can help us to establish rapport, discipline and order in class. An effective way is shared in this unit and it is encouraged that we practice these good habits in class. In fact, simple matters such as writing on the board and giving instructions are also covered in this unit so as to be an effective educator to the students. From the personal level, this unit moves on to how we interact with the students. How they are taught as well as how they do their work are covered under the organisational skills. It includes, but is not limited to, group work, pair work, seating arrangement and more.
All the tips shared in this unit will be of additional help to us as teachers as it suggests that an organised class is something that is achievable. This would in turn contribute to the confidence level we may have in class.
