Here Below you can check out the feedback (for one of our units) of one of the 16.000 students that last year took an online course with ITTT!

In this unit I learned that there are four types of past tense (past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous). The past simple tense is used to describe finished actions that happened at a specific point in time in the past. The past simple affirmative form is generally shown by a subject + the past simple form of a verb (by adding -ed or -d to the base form of the verb). Here are some example sentences: -My pet died last week. die-d -My brother called me this afternoon. call-ed But there are also verbs that have an irregular simple past form that is not simply created by adding -d or -ed. And there are no rules to identify these irregular verbs nor rules to show how they are formed into a past simple tense. The past continuous tense is used to describe actions or situations that were happening at a particular point in time in the past. The past continuous affirmative form is shown by a subject + was/were + the -ing form of the verb. Here are some example sentences: -He was sleeping soundly at 2am. -I was waiting for a taxi at 6pm. The past perfect tense is used to tell about the earlier of two past events. The past perfect affirmative form is shown by a subject + had + the past participle form of the verb. Here are some example sentences: -He had finished his sales report before his boss arrived. -They had begun eating before I sat down. And last, but not least, there is the past continuous tense. The past continuous tense is used to describe an activity that began in the past and continued up to another point in time in the past. The past continuous tense is also used to describe something that had been going on before something else happened. Past continuous tense is shown by a subject + had been + the -ing form of a verb. An example sentence would be, "They had been studying when suddenly the power went out."
