This unit is similar to Unit 4. The difference is that this is the past tenses while unit 4 is the present tenses. Likewise to that, a strong understanding and grasp of this unit is essential for us to teach grammar in class. It is important that we can identify the four different types of past tenses, past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous at the tip of our fingertips so that we can teach accurately and correctly.
At the end of this unit, I have learnt eight tenses altogether. As mentioned above, the focus of this unit is the past tenses. To summarise, the actions and the verbs of such sentence structures occurred in the past and take on the past tense. Each of the four tenses has their respective forms and usages. None of the four are the same. In addition, just like in unit 4, examples, teaching ideas and common mistakes are also shared for us to be aware of the possible outcomes from grammar exercises in class.
