This unit explains the uses of the five different conditionals: zero, first, second, third and mixed. In order to understand them, the student will have to study the rules and how they are formed. typical mistakes or errors students make are in the different usage between 1st and 2nd conditionals and 3rd and mixed conditionals.
The other subject, which in my opinion could be one of the most difficult for students to understand, is Reported Speech, reporting a direct speech. Every time you report a speech, you have to backshift the tense so, for example, present simple becomes past simple, print continuous becomes past continuous etc.. The only tenses that don't change are past perfect and past perfect continuous. The time changes as well, so today becomes that day, now becomes then, yesterday becomes the day before etc...
