Unit 17 covers the equipment and teaching aids that can be found in an EFL/ESL classroom. There are 15 of them in total. Some resources covered the advantages and disadvantages of it, others talked about the basic principles and simply things we need to bear in mind as an EFL teacher. It is useful to note that for computer as a resource to teach the English Language, there are many uses for it as well as for the numerous online resources available that was covered in 12 pages of this unit.
The knowledge and information that is shared here is informative and helpful. It may be possible that there are information in this unit that we already know, but this unit allows us to focus on the relevant and helpful ones for classroom use. In addition, as mentioned in some of my previous unit reflections, this unit also serves as a reminder. I may have come across some of these during my time as a student and this unit reminds me of the uses of this available resources in the class. Besides that, of course there are new knowledge that has been gained from this unit, some that I may not have been aware of such as the IWBs. As such, it was eye-opening.
These resources if used effectively, will help the students as well as ourselves in ensuring a productive and enjoyable lesson in class. The previous unit taught us grammar. That was the technical aspect of the English Language that we need to learn to teach students, while this is about the tools we use in delivering those lessons. As the previous unit was the most challenging grammar unit of all, it may help to make use of the appropriate resources found in this unit to deliver the lesson of conditionals and reported speech. That way, students may be engaged in learning and it would be more effective.
