The content of this unit included qualities of a good teacher as well as the role of the teacher. From this I learned what qualities to strive for as a teacher. Learning the roles of a teacher helped me to understand the full scope of an ESL teacher. Learning the age breakdown and descriptions of the four groups helped me to understand what to expect when teaching students of various ages. Learning the 6 language levels will help me to categorize where my students are at in their ESL abilities and group them accordingly. It was interesting to learn of the various motivations for taking ESL classes and may help me to motivate young people who may need to understand why they should learn English.
