This unit is a basic overview of English grammar. Each word in a sentence has a category which denotes its role in the meaning of the sentence. Some words modify other words. Some words can change category, depending on its usage in the sentence.
Most of these sentence examples seem obvious to a native English speaker, but when you break down the parts of speech, one realizes that we take this knowledge for granted and it may be very difficult for a non-native to identify the correct word order of even a simple sentence.
To truly display what I have learned in this section, I will have to identify parts of speech from an everyday sentence such as this one.
