Kekaha, Hawaii TESOL Online & Teaching English Jobs
This unit talked about past tenses and the difference between different types of sentences that refer to past events. 'Past Simple' deals with past actions for when the time is given. Such as in the sentence 'I saw him yesterday'. While in the 'Past Continuous' tense we use 'was' and 'were' along with a verb and the -ing ending. Such as in the sentence 'The Sun was rising.'
These different tenses allow us to talk about different actions in the past in greater clarity. We can use the 'Past Continuous' tense to talk about interrupted past actions, or the 'Past Perfect' tense when we want to talk about actions that occurred before other actions in the past. Each tense allows us to community very specific details on how past events occurred so that no information is misunderstood.
