Unit 11 talks about teaching receptive skills. Receptive skills are reading and listening. It demonstrates that the students need to be able to do both to fully understand what is going on. There are different levels of reading depending on what our aims are. We either read for a purpose or for entertainment. Each of this requires a varied level of attention.
I learned that I, as a teacher, will have to choose my texts and subjects wisely so as to not confuse my students. Also, be able to know my students to choose subjects that will hold their interests for a sustained period of time.
