Simple present :
We use the simple present for expressing
1-factual statement
2- habitual activity or repeated action
3- commentaries
4- directions and instructions
5- newspaper headlines
6-present stories
7- historical sequence
The structure is : subject + verb
Question form: Do/Does + subject +…
Negative form : subject + do /does + not +…
When verbs end to S/X/O/Z/CH/SH , we add ES to verb when our subject is : HE/SHE /IT for example
He watches TV
We add just S to verb when subject is HE/SHE/IT
Present continuous :
1-To express an action at the time of speaking
2-express a single activity or a series of activities happening over agiven period of time jot necessarily at the moment of speaking .
3-in special circumstances , a speaker may use the present progressive with always to complain to express annoyance or anger for example : I am always picking up Marys dirty socks!
4-back ground events in a present story
5- to describe developing action
6-to refer to regular action around a point of time
Its structure: subject + am/is/are+ verb +ing
Question form: auxiliary + subject + verb+ing
Negative sentence: subject + am /is/are+ not+ verb+ ing
Present perfect:
1-express an action or an emotion that started in the past and has a continued in to the present.
2-indicates an action that happened at an indefinite time in the past. The time of the action is not given.
3-when we describe past actions with present results
Structure : subject + have/has + pp
Question form : have/ has+ subject + pp
Negative form : subject + have/ has+ not + pp
Present perfect continuous :
1- the present perfect continuous tense is used to emphasize the continuous nature of activity that started in the past and is still going on the moment of speaking .
2-the present perfect continuous often express an action that is uninterrupted: for example: I have been reading it for the past hour.
The structure is: subject + have /has + been + verb + ing
Question form: have / has + subject + been +verb+ ing
Negative form: subject + have /has + been + verb+ ing
