The role of the teacher in the learning process cannot be understated. A good teacher is one that practices good teaching characteristics (kindness, patience, lively, entertaining, motivating) and one that has a general love for teaching, and their students. The quality of the teacher, and their behaviors, will reflect in the learning retention output of their students. A good teacher will know the strengths and weaknesses of each of their students on an individual level, and be able to make adjustments to their individual training methods in order to meet the needs of each student. As shown in the lesson, there are various roles and styles a teacher will be required to take on as the situations that arise require these role changes. A teacher must be aware of when and how to effectively traverse between roles. The complementary part of the relationship to the students is, of course, the learners themselves (the students). As students learn and develop, they will also go through different roles and phases. Each learning stage requires different attention and focus from the teachers. For language levels, there are ranges from beginner through advanced, proficient, fluent learners that each student will go through during their development. It is important for a teacher to know what phase of learning each student is traversing through, and it is important for the teach to be able to adjust their role and style accordingly to ensure the continued motivation of each student.
