As an English language teacher, you must learn to constantly adapt to your students' needs. Many times, this means dealing with a variety of problems in the classroom, many of which are all too common occurrences. A good teacher must be able to recognize these common problems and work to find solutions. Even a small tweak in your teaching methods can help to create a more productive and casual environment for both you and your students.
Building a rapport with students can make the difference when teaching, especially in a second language. Developing rapport- including building trust, using humor and getting to know the students outside of the classroom- can not only help to better understand the background of students but can also help with classroom management and instruction. Rapport does not result in learning, but it certainly helps to create conditions conducive to learning—things like higher motivation, increased comfort, and enhanced communication. Teaching doesn’t always result in learning either, but, like rapport, it is one of those factors that can contribute positively to learning.
Teaching different levels of students is one of the biggest problems that teachers face. Teachers can possibly deal with these common problems by using some effective ways and techniques, getting to know the students and identify their interests and needs will enable the class to progress smoothly.
Staying awake and interested in class can be difficult. But what's even more difficult is being responsible for keeping students awake and interested. In order to be a great English teacher, one must not only teach but inspire and empower. The goal is to excite the students about learning, speaking, reading, writing, and comprehending English.
