Unit 1 summarizes about the relation between teachers and the learners.A teacher should be kind,patient and social with the students,must have basic knowledge of English,able to motivate the students,correct them,encourage them to ask questions and bringing out the best from them.He/she should perform various roles,such as manager,organizer,assessor,promoter,participant,facilitator, model and observer in a classroom.They have to keep in mind that the learners varies by age,cultures,language levels and motivation.Adult learners(18+) are usually high motivated,may have better learning experiences and language awareness but the teachers may face some behavior problems with them.On the other side,students below 18,are oftenly unmotivated but usually more receptive to their lesson and fun loving.The learners level of language is also a major factor while teaching.The candidates generally varies by six levels of language,which are,
1)Beginners-zero to basic knowledge of English
2)Elementary-able to form basic sentence and communicate on simple topics.
3)Low/pre intermediate-able to communicate a greater variety of topics but lacking fluency.
4)intermediate-able to communicate wide range of using vocabularies but lacking in fluency and accuracy.
5)upper intermediate-able to communicate on almost all topics but still lacking some accuracy.
6)Advanced-have a very good knowledge in English and will be studying more subtle parts of speech.
But these levels may also vary by country or region.
There are few basic reasons for which the candidates may be motivated for learning,such as for career prospects,travelling the world,communicate with friends,peers,colleagues,improve grades in exams,interest in foreign language and living in English speaking countries.Finally it can be said that a caring teacher,who considers almost all of the above discussions is more likely to have successful learners who are motivated,enjoy learning and continue their studies with ease.
